Abstract

The activity of the well-known politician, parliamentarian, public figure Volodymyr Kokhan for the preparation of the World Congress of Free Ukrainians is analyzed. Some little-known facts about the way of life related to emigration to Canada are clarified. It is determined that the main purpose of public activity in exile (co-founder and head of the Coordinating Ukrainian Committee (Germany), supporter of the initiative to establish the Ukrainian National Council (UNRada) in exile, executive director of the Committee of Ukrainians of Canada (UCC) was to implement the idea of consolidation of world Ukrainians. V. Kokhan’s participation in each of the preparatory stages of the organization of the World Congress of Free Ukrainians is analyzed, in particular his speeches at the meetings of the Executive Committee of the Pan-American Ukrainian Conference (PAUC) on October 23-25, 1948, individual delegates of the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) and Committee of Ukrainians of Canada (CUC); on April 15–16, 1966 in Toronto (Canada) at the meetings of the Program and Organizing Commissions of the Preparatory Committee of the Pan-American Ukrainian Conference for convening the World Congress of Free Ukrainians. The scale of V. Kokhan’s work in the Program Commission of the Preparatory Committee of the Pan-American Ukrainian Conference for convening the World Congress of Free Ukrainians is characterized. At the same time, the worldview values of a well-known politician and public figure in exile are revealed.
