THE EVOLUTION OF NATO'S STRATEGIC CONCEPT AND THE RUSSIAN FACTOR

Abstract

I would like to note that the problems of the work under consideration are very complex. The topic of the selected study is relevant for several reasons. First, this is due to the fact that the crisis in RussiaNATO-US relations is currently escalating. This will be especially evident after the election of a new US president, namely in the case of the presidency of Joe Biden. Secondly, starting from the origins and evolution of the North Atlantic Alliance to the present day, Russia should once again analyze the strategic concept of NATO and take some proactive steps to reduce geopolitical damage and mitigate local crises or conflicts, including on its borders. The purpose of this study is to examine the evolution of the strategic concept of NATO, in particular to date. The object of the study is the military policy of NATO. The subject of the research is NATO's actions towards Russia. It seems that for this work, the method of time comparison, as well as comparison, is optimal. Correlation of information obtained from various groups of sources (historical, political science, etc.) was carried out. The main conclusion of the study is that now the general line of the US and NATO is aimed at escalating tensions with their "strategic partner" - Russia. For this, NATO's strategic concept has already been greatly transformed, and under the leadership of the United States it will only become tougher and confrontational. The novelty of the topic under study lies in the fact that the author has conducted a brief analysis of all strategic concepts of the North Atlantic Alliance since the founding of the organization and made an attempt to consider the resumption of a new escalation between the Russian Federation with the United States and with NATO at the stage of an ambiguous transition of power in the United States.
