THE MANUSCRIPTS OF THE MONASTERY OF GANDZASAR OF ARTSAKH IN THE SECOND HALF OF XVII CENTURY

Abstract

Thus, summarizing our scientific studies, we can confidently say that the art of writing was used in historical Armenia in ancient times in the form of engravings. In the second half of the 17th century, the centers of Armenian writing formed in the Middle Ages continued their activity in different regions of Eastern Armenia. Parallel to those new ones were opened. So, the centers of the writing art of Dadivank, Amaras, Gandzasar, Gtchavank, Khnatsakh, Avetaranots, Khznavar village, Chareka monastery, the monastery of Parisos, the monastery of Yerits Mankants, the canton of Tsar, the monastery of Saint Hakob, the monastery of Yeghishe Arakyal, the village of Arajadzor, the Church of St. Mary Virgin of Hirher (Herher), as well as the centers of the writing art of a number of places of the north-eastern regions of Artsakh were known at the same time. However, like many manuscripts of Artsakh, most of the manuscripts written during that period were also destroyed. The saved manuscripts are currently kept in the Matenadaran after Mesrop Mashtots of the Republic of Armenia.

In our scientific article, we presented the general description of the atypical manuscripts written in the Gandzasar Monastery of Artsakh in the second half of the 17th century: the place of writing, the time of the manuscript, the author, the recipient, the size of the manuscript, the content of the manuscript, the writer's memoirs, etc. Those manuscripts are still unpublished and in good condition. There is very little information about some of the manuscripts.

The scientific article was written in Italian with the aim of informing the foreign language community about these valuable manuscripts of the Monastery of Gandzasar of Artsakh.
