Abstract

Currently, in the study of the SARS-COV-2 (COVID-19) viral infection, the issues of the course and outcome of the disease are becoming increasingly important. Thanks to the implementation of the COVID-19 Diagnostic and Treatment Protocols, it was possible to establish control over the timely diagnosis and optimization of the unfavorable outcome of a new viral infection.
The lower prevalence and severity of the disease in children may be associated with both a lower susceptibility to COVID-19 infection and a lower likelihood of symptoms. The role of neutropenia characteristic of childhood cannot be ruled out.
However, recent studies indicate an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 among children. Attention is drawn to kidney damage in this syndrome, where the development of acute renal damage with the subsequent development of multiple organ syndrome can affect the outcome of COVID-19.
