Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study of the illness behavior determinants. A sample of patients with cardiovascular and endocrine pathology demonstrated the presence of statistically significant relationships between the degree of trust in a health information source, the type of attitude to the disease, sociodemographic characteristics, and adherence to medical recommendations. High levels of trust in personal experience, as well as in the opinions of friends and family, contributed to non-adherence, while trust in popular science literature was associated with more rational behavior.
