Abstract

The process of borrowing is one of the main mechanisms of language dynamics. In the period of active globalization in the modern world, the process of borrowing is particularly relevant. However, the translation of units (usually lexical) from one language to another is usually studied in the projection on extralinguistic parameters. Meanwhile, it is well known that each word of another language reflects the value attitudes of its native speakers, which are different in comparison with the host language, and are related to the individual properties of the foreign language mentality. This means that there is a certain contradiction between the traditional approach to the study of the borrowing process and the needs of modern intercultural communication. There is a need to study not only the system-structural side of the borrowing process, but also the "environment" of the language, that is, the culture within which a particular language exists. This problem is solved by the relatively recent cross-cultural method of linguistic analysis, which attempts to study a foreign language element not just as a component of a particular language, but as a phenomenon that "passes" through different cultures and, accordingly, is enriched with new cultural connotations.
