Abstract

The article carries out a historical-comparative, comparative-contrastive, chronological, retrospective analysis of primary literature, classification and systematization of theoretical and statistical data of periodization of the development of the professional development system (PDS) of research-teaching staff (RTS) of higher education institutions in Ukraine in the last quarter of the XX – early XXI century. In particular, the concept of periodization, periods and stages of the periodization are revealed. It is determined that the expediency of periodization of the development of PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine in the last quarter of the XX - early XXI century follows from the need for a comprehensive analysis of key events that influenced the development of PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine in the last quarter of XX – early XXI century. In this scientific investigation, the object of historical and pedagogical periodization is the PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine in the last quarter of the XX - early XXI century, which provides a comprehensive study of the process within certain chronological limits (periods) and more detailed - at certain stages; the subject of periodization is a period of time (the last quarter of the XX - early XXI century), which reflects the specific features of the development of the PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine and is specified through such categories as stages. A comprehensive and detailed analysis of the definitions of the meaning of the term "periodization" gives grounds to understand the periodization of the development of the PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine in the last quarter of the XX – early XXI century: scientifically substantiated, historically confirmed chronological delimitation of the studied process into certain periods and stages, which differ from each other by specific features; a way to create a holistic picture of the process of development of the PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine, which allows us to systematize historical facts, archival sources, scientific achievements, etc. The analysis of the development of the PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine in the studied period, allowed to identify the following periods (1974-1990 – the first period; 1991-2014 – the second period) and the stages to this period (1991-1999 – the first stage; 2000 –2014 – the second stage). It should be noted that the defined chronological boundaries of periodization are somewhat relative, but we believe that the selected temporal historical periods reflect the general development of the PDS of RTS of HEIs of Ukraine in the last quarter of the XX - early XXI century.
